Today in art Year 1 have been out in the sunshine drawing from still life. We chose a tree on the field and studied the lines and detail on the tree. After that we used pencil to carefully sketch the tree. Year 1 produced some fantastic work!
Today Year 1 used cubes to measure capacity and volume. We had to compare each container and order them from the container that could hold the most to the container that could hold the least. Super measuring Year 1!
Today Year 1 went into the Woodland area to investigate places where animals or insects may live. We investigated the grounds and recorded our findings and then we discussed why the woodland area is a good place for animals and insects live.
This week in English we have been looking at instructions. Yesterday we had to order a set of instructions. Today we had to follow instructions to make Easter cards. Tomorrow we will be writing our own instructions for other people to make Easter cards.
Today in Year 1 we have started learning about ‘dividing’ or ‘sharing’ numbers. We started off by dividing by 2. We used cubes and hoops to help us work out the answers.
Today in Science Year 1 have been searching for signs of Spring. We went outside into the woodland area and found daffodils, bluebells and other flowers growing. We saw nests in the trees and lots of different insects such as ladybirds.
