Year 2 have been very busy over the last few weeks. We can now share some of our learning with you.
Science – investigating materials. We had to predict and test which material was best for a toy car to travel down a ramp.
We enjoyed watching and participating in the travelling science show on light and sound.
We we picked fresh juicy apples from our apple tree.
Sketching in the woodland area.
Today in maths Year 1 have been playing ‘4 in a row’. We had to use our skills adding numbers to try and make 4 in a row.
Today Year 1 have been working in pairs to solve some addition and subtraction problems. They worked really hard and showed excellent team work.
This week Year 1 have been practising their comprehension skills. Instead of answering questions today we had to think of our own questions. We read a nonfiction text called ‘where do sea shells come from?’. Then we thought of our own questions to ask about the text and got into to pairs to answer our partners questions.
This week Year 1 are naming and describing 3D shapes. Today we looked at everyday objects that are 3D shapes. Our task was to name the 3D shape. We worked together in teams to name the shapes.
Today as part of our D&T topic we have been dis using where our food comes from. We found out that food comes from plants or animals. Our task was to sort the foods and decide if they come from plants or animals.
This week in maths we have been practising fractions. Today we had to use our knowledge from the week to complete different fractions challenges. Year 1 showed resilience and worked really hard even though some of the challenges were pretty difficult! Well done everyone!
This afternoon Year 1 participated in a Tennis Festival. We took part in lots of different tennis activities and had a fantastic time! Thank you to Robin Park for hosting the event.
Today in art Year 1 have been practising sketching. Our subject to draw from life was the stag in our school grounds. We took our time and focussed on the lines and the detail. Once we had finished drawing the stag we used our skills from the previous week to draw trees surrounding the stag.
