This half term we are learning about materials. Year 1 were asked to build their own boat, the two materials available were plastic or paper. We made predictions about which material would make the best boat and why, after that each group made their own boat out of plastic or paper. Finally we tested the boats and decided that although the paper boats did float plastic was the best material as paper boats weren’t waterproof and wouldn’t last very long in the water. Great investigating Year 1!
This week in maths we are describing and comparing length and height. Year one were set different challenges. Here we are making a tower that is taller than the table. Well done everyone!
Year 1 crayons have gone missing! We found a note telling us they have quite. We talked about the reasons our crayons had quit and then we made banners using our sentences writing skills.
Thank you to all the children and parents who gave Mrs Keeley, Mrs Keating , Mrs Birgarni and Miss Warren leaving gifts. We appreciate the thought and feel truly blessed. We wish all our lovely Reception children the best as they go into Year 1. They have been a pleasure to teach and we have loved watching them grow.
Thank you again and we wish you all a lovely summer.
Our fundraiser was a great success. The children brought in lots of exciting things to sell. The had a great time and we have used our fundraising money to pay for the duck eggs we had in March.
In maths, the children were recapping their vocabulary for capacity. So we decided to make ice lollies as the weather was so hot. The children enjoyed cooling down in the shade with their very own ice lolly.
The children have been learning to chop, cut and prepare fruit. I was really impressed with their understanding of halving. They had lots of fun making their fruit salads and enjoyed eating them!
The children had lots of fun learning about London and the royal family. We then went outside with our buddies played traditional games and sang songs.
